Echium simplex (Tower of jewels)
Terrific for some vertical shapes in the garden, Echium simplex grows to 2mH but only around 0.5mW. It makes a mound of basal foliage in the first year, flowering in the second spring then setting seed and dying. Does leave lots of seedlings at its base though! It is a magnet for bees when it flower and a cluster of them in flower can often be heard before they are visible! Move the seedlings when young before the tap root gets established, and they make a great cover for anywhere hot and dry. Full sun.
