Bystropogon canariensis (Canary Island smoke bush)
A gorgeous uncommon shrub in the mint family, the Bystropogon flowers from mid spring until mid autumn. Light green pom-pom buds open to white fluffy plumes that in full flush, create the appearance of 'smoke' around the shrub. Grows in full sun with a little supplementary water over the hot weather, otherwise in part shade it copes with very little water once established. Tip prune when young to encourage bushiness. Can be pruned hard in winter or as needed to keep around 1-1.5mH. Unpruned it can reach 2.5mH.
