From the misty mountain regions of Mexico (hence the common name!), it is surprisingly tough in the much less humid climes of Perth and the south-west. Best grown in shade, or early morning sun for cooler regions. Handsome, deeply veined leaves contrast with the dark purplish stems, making an attractive shrub when not in flower. Large panicles of fluffy purple flowers are produced from late winter and through spring. Deadhead after flowering to tidy. 1.5mH x 1.5mW
