From North America this eryngium is found in prairie and meadow glade habitats which speaks to its use in the garden. Worked in amongst other perennials its quirky sphere shaped inflorescence are producing from early summer and will age gradually and gracefully into late autumn. Strappy foliage can be attractive in its own right or blended amongst grasses. Don't overfeed or overwater as it can cause lax foliage and flowering stems.
