Physostegia virginiana 'Alba' (Obedient plant)
A vigorous groundcover that lopes along in the garden where moisture is available. It will spread between plants, filling gaps or make a nice patch at the front of the garden bed. Control its spread by restricting water as it prefers an evenly moist soil. Tall stems of pure white tubular flowers are produced during summer, and can be cut for floral arrangements. Foliage is low to around 0.3mH but flowering stems can be up to 1mH possibly more in damp rich soils. Full sun in all but the hottest areas where some afternoon shade is beneficial.
