Buddleja crispa (Himalayan butterfly bush; Butterfly bush)
This is a buddleja that can be grown for its foliage alone with whitish-silver leaves, it's luminous at dusk and a great foil for nearby burgundy or green foliage. Soft purple flowers are produced in winter and these are lightly fragrant. Whilst the flowers are not overly large, the perfume is apparent when passing by this buddleja. Apparently it's deciduous in cold climates but is evergreen in Perth hills and coastal plain. Prune hard in spring after flowering if you want to maintain this buddleja at a smaller size than 3mH x 3mW. Otherwise it's great for screening a shed or acting as a windbreak. Full sun is best. Dry tolerant once established.
