Lychnis coronaria 'Alba' (Rose campion; Dusty millar)
Terrific old fashioned plant that is bone hardy and super easy to grow. Furry leaves from the many short hairs (think small lambs ear type leaves) have a silvery appearance as do the flower stems. Alba has clean white flowers, which are perfect for floral art. Flower stems are up to 40cm tall, held well above the basal foliage. Tolerates dry conditions quite happily, although ongoing flowering is best achieved with the occasional water during the hottest part of summer. Will self seed a little so replace plants every few years as older stock tires. Full sun. Good airflow around foliage is important to avoid potential rot during winter.
