Lonicera hildebrandiana (Giant burmese honeysuckle)
This honeysuckle has the largest flowers and leaves of all the honeysuckle species, and is quite an intriguing plant to grow. I initially found it to be a little capricious however once it is in the right location, it's easy to grow. For Perth based gardeners and those north, dappled light to early morning sun will keep it happy. Gardeners in the cooler southern parts of the state could grow it in morning sun, however it's definitely not for full sun in the hot old west! Encouraging it up a winter deciduous tree could work well. Flowers up to 20cm long are highly fragrant. Give it room to reach over 6mH otherwise it happily can be pruned. I grow it as a large shrub under an old lemon tree pruned to manage size.
