From South Africa, the Cussonia makes an evergreen architectural tree, either as a feature tree or within a broader landscape. Although from regions of South Africa with summer rainfall these trees tolerate drought very well. They can survive on natural rainfall alone in the Perth hills and southern Western Australia. Hotter areas would be best to provide some supplemental water over summer months. Sculptural and long lived these are an attractive an usual tree for the garden.
